Edward Timothy

Before exploring the wartime experience of my Grandad i believe it useful to first examine the individual himself. Having passed away when i was only two years old i do not have any memories of him yet we must have met. Using documents provided by my dad i have prepared the below summary with sources:

Born

19/04/1923 (Residence not noted but presumed to be that of parents in later marriage documents at this stage). Birth recorded as having taken place is Aston in the Civil Registration Birth Index 1916 to 2007 (Volume Number 6d Page Number 776 - Source - ancestry.co.uk)

Parents

John William Timothy

Born 05/04/1887, Married 25/12/1909, Died 26/02/1953.

Esther Ann Timothy

Born 11/01/1887, Married 25/12/1909, Died 30/01/1963.

Home

Whilst his childhood address has yet to be established it is possible he resided at his fathers marriage address of Salop Street (Possibly Birmingham or Dudley). As war broke out he lived with his parents at 146 Wychbold Cresent, Lea Hall, Birmingham.

Marriage

09/10/1948

Death

18/02/1986

Whilst the above documents present many more questions in my mind and do not provide a full account of his upbringing pre war time they do serve to paint a picture of his geography and background leading up to his enlistment in 1940 which i will explore in my next post.
